The penultimate round of the OWS.co.uk swim series 2010 saw more success for COSC Masters swimmers including some for whom this was their introduction to open water competition.

In a 1500m race that featured Olympic gold medallist Adrian Moorhouse donning a wetsuit in preparation for the London triathlon, Charlotte James was second woman home in 20.27, just 35 seconds behind Moorhouse himself. Jo Davies finished third woman in 21.12.

Alan Beggs, an open water first-timer, was the first male non-wetsuit swimmer in the 1500m in 28.45.

The 3.8km race in which one swimmer needed paramedic attention after cramping up metres from the finish saw more success for the squad; Simon Joyce finished second overall, first non-wetsuit in 52.55, just a handful of seconds ahead of former COSC swimmer Andy Martin, now competing for Cardiff.  Kirsty Harvey was second wetsuited female in 1.05.17 leaving Andy Spencer trailing in her wake, Andy finishing in 1.07.16, though swimming in his Speedos.  After finishing, Spenny stated his long term aim as the 10km Open Water in London 2012, so this was a vital step-up in distance as part of his preparation.
